All students up to secondary school age will enter Heritage Malta sites free of charge, Finance Minister Edward Scicluna announced during Monday's Budget 2019 speech.

Two adults accompanying them will also be entitled to free entrance.

The scheme is an extension of a project for primary school students which Heritage Malta unveiled in 2016. At the time, authorities had said they intended to extend it to secondary students if it proved successful.

In keeping with a promise made in last year's Budget speech, Prof. Scicluna announced that Matsec exams will be free of charge next year, after fees were halved this year.

In another measure, he also announced that registered NGOs with an income of less than €10,000 will be exempt from income tax as of next year.
