The Kirkop local council and the Alliance Francaise de Malte have come to an agreement through which Kirkop residents will be able to attend French language courses in their home town.

French ambassador Patrick Chrismant said that through the French lessons, the council was preparing for its official twinning with the French town of Rousset in the region of Provence, the home town of a number of persons of Maltese origin. Mr Chrismant said the knowledge of the language would assist in strengthening existing relationships and the forging of new friendships between residents of the twinned towns.
