A woman jailed for three days and fined Lm10 for having sex in public was yesterday fined another Lm25 for filing a frivolous appeal.

Josephine Lanzon was originally charged with loitering with intent for prostitution in Marsa on July 27 at about 11.20 p.m.

She was also charged with offending public morals and relapsing but was found guilty only of the morals charge.

Lanzon however appealed and said the punishment was excessive.

Mr Justice Vincent DeGaetano found that the punishment was very close to the minimum prescribed by law despite the fact that Lanzon had a criminal record.

He confirmed the Magistrates' Court judgment and fined her an additional Lm25 to be converted into five days' jail in default.
