The Front Maltin Inqumu yesterday sent an open letter to the chairman of the Broadcasting Authority accusing the authority of failing to transmit the truth to the public.

In the four-page letter, signed by FMI exponents Dom Mintoff and Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici, the front accused the authority of spending taxpayers' money on commissioning experts to tell it what everyone already knew and what it wanted to hear.

The front said the public had realised the mistake it made in the EU referendum and two elections held over the past six years and added that the decisions were taken because the public had been misled by those who were in duty bound to deliver the truth.

FMI said that unless there was a change, it was ready to ask the Maltese public to channel money to the front rather than to the authority in order for it to be saved up and set up a cooperative aimed at broadcasting the truth.

The front said it would communicate the matter to the European Commission and to the president of the European Parliament unless the authority allowed it to broadcast by the end of this month.
