Labour market statistics for February 2008 indicate that the number of Maltese residents in full-time paid employment has increased by 2.2 per cent, reflecting a fall in the number of registered unemployed.

The Employment and Training Corporation reported a rise in the island's labour supply when compared with the same time last year with 95.8 per cent in full-time paid employment.

Areas which measured the largest growth in full-time employment were real estate, renting and business, other community, the social and personal service sectors, and health and social work. However, the number of people undertaking full-time paid employment in manufacturing, electricity, gas and water supply fell during the same period.
