Everything is set for Saturday's concert being presented by the youth band of the Sliema Philharmonic Society to raise funds for missionary work by the Daughters of the Sacred Heart in Kenya.

The concert, featuring singers Julie Zahra, Ludwig Galea and Olivia Lewis, is being held in the Sir Temi Zammit auditorium of the university at 7 p.m.

The sisters' plan is to build a school for abandoned children who are afflicted by Aids, acquired immune deficiency syndrome.

Apart from various popular themes from well known rock operas, the youth band, conducted by Mro Sigmund Mifsud, will perform various other works. Clarinettist Lesley Tabone will perform the solo from Petite Fleur.

A Lm2 donation for each ticket is being requested in aid of the Kenya project.

Tickets are available from John's Garage in Hamrun, JK Eleven Boutique of City Gate, Valletta, the Kennedy Nova Hotel, The Strand, Sliema, Simler's Confectionery in Sliema and the Sliema Band Club.

Sister Pauline Farrugia, missionary coordinator of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, who spent 22 years in Kenya, is running a scheme through which people can sponsor one of the children by giving Lm4 per month to provide for their education or Lm5 per month for education and food.

Anyone wishing to help Sr Pauline in her work may contact her at the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, St Therese Convent, 100 Gorg Borg Olivier Street, Mellieha, tel. 2152 3532.
