The City of London is today organising a pub crawl to raise money for Tonio Mercieca, who became paralysed from the chest down in a diving incident 25 years ago and needs to buy a specially designed power wheelchair.

Bar landlord Julian Borg is pledging to raise Lm300 for Tonio and is encouraging his patrons to come forward and have fun while raising money.

Those wishing to take part in today's pub crawl should gather at the City of London at 7.30 p.m. People are encouraged to carry flags and come dressed in colourful attire.

The pubs visited will include Saddles, Ryan's, Dick's, Scotsman, Hacienda in Bay Street and Andrews Bar.

The only answer to Tonio's problems is a specially designed power wheelchair which can tilt back at the touch of the wheelchair to help ease the pressure on his back.

Others who wish to help Tonio continue leading an independent life, without becoming a prisoner in his bed, may send a donation to the Bank of Valletta account: 40011726757.
