Through the 50-hour bicycle marathon last year, the Liceo Ħamrun Kulleġġ San Ġorġ Preca, with the collaboration of the Association of Lyceum Past Students, managed to contribute a further €42,500 to id-Dar tal-Providenza.

The marathon committee uses all the funds collected from each marathon to start, continue or help complete a project within a charitable organisation .

Thanks to the 2008 and 2009 marathons, id-Dar tal-Providenza received a total of €71,000. These funds enabled the commencement of works on Villa Papa Giovanni, where founder Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi is buried. This project included reconstruction and structural changes needed to facilitate access to residents and visitors, as well as the the addition of a Greek theatre.
