Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will miss tomorrow's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Juventus because of a groin injury.

The England midfielder sustained an adductor strain in the final minutes of Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Manchester City, the club said yesterday. Liverpool beat Juventus 2-1 in the first leg at Anfield last Tuesday.

Gerrard will not travel with the squad to Turin today and will remain in Liverpool for treatment. Club doctors are hopeful he will recover in time to be involved in the league game at home to Tottenham on Saturday.
