The Institute of Community Services of the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology will be holding the 10th annual hair and beauty marathon at Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija (Park of Friendship), in Marsascala on Saturday and Sunday.
Students following the hairdressing and beauty therapy courses at the institute will be providing hair and beauty services for 36 hours.
The main hall at the park will be transformed into a big salon were students will be working together with professional hairdressers and beauty therapists.
Singers, dancers and artistes will provide entertainment. There will also be entertainment for children, a car wash and other outdoor activities.
The event will be transmitted live on Education Channel 22 with various links with other local television stations.
Funds collected will be donated to Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija. Televiewers can phone in their donation on 5004 9885 for Lm5 or 5009 4880 for Lm10.
Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija has been providing recreational and therapeutic services to children and adults with a disability for over 16 years, always free of charge. It helps over 1,000 disabled persons and organisations working in the field of disability and healthcare.
The programmes are currently being upgraded to include more professional staff and volunteers, boosting the mental, physical and social value of the programmes.
The funds raised will be used to sustain the valuable daily programmes. Any person or organisation wishing to make use of such services may contact the park directly.
The marathon starts on Saturday at 11 a.m.
