At the conclusion of a thanksgiving mass at St Anthony of Padua church in Għajnsielem, Fr Guardian Marcello Ghirlando, OFM. unveiled a commemorative plaque affixed to the left-hand wall of the church.
The plaque commemorates the Jubilee Year of Hope, the arrival of the Holy Crucifix of Ta’ Ġieżu church in Valletta and the installation of the new church bells, marking the 800th anniversary of St Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures.
The celebration was held on the evening of the final day of 2025. Prior to Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed for adoration, followed by the celebration of evening prayers (vespers).
During the celebration, the Te Deum was solemnly sung in thanksgiving for the many graces bestowed by the Lord upon his people throughout the year that had just drawn to a close.
