A Ghanaian resident in Italy is being deported this afternoon after pleading guilty to being in possession of four false Italian passports and four Italian residence permits.

The Ghanian - Opoku Emos Mensah, 32, was given a two-year jail term suspended for four years.

He had been stopped by the Drug Squad on his arrival at Malta International Airport on Christmas Eve on suspicion that he was carrying drugs.

Although the search for drugs proved negative, he was found carrying the false documents.
