The story of a giant rabbit let loose in the countryside made the national papers in Britain recently.

The Wor Rabbit, as the ruminant was named, is nothing but an exhibition giant rabbit which escaped or was released intentionally into the wild. Giant rabbits weigh as much as eight or nine kilos.

Giant rabbits and Belgian hares will be on show at the Old Birkirkara Railway Station tomorrow and on Sunday during the Annual National Championship Rabbit Show organised by the Malta Rabbit Club.

About 250 rabbits in a multitude of colours and varieties and representing about 40 breeds will be on show and there will also be a section for does with their litters and another one for pet rabbits. The show, sponsored by APS Bank and Messrs Borg Cardona & Co. of Balzan, will be open between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on both days.
