Girl, 15, charged with stealing over €2k from colleague
Fellow employee tells court he has been reimbursed and forgave the child
A 15-year-old girl has been charged with stealing just over €2,000 from her colleague, who later told the court that he had been fully refunded and had forgiven her.
The girl, who stood in court with a blushing face and fiddling with her nails, was flanked by her mother, who appeared to be holding back tears throughout the sitting before Magistrate Lara Lanfranco.
She admitted to stealing the cash from her colleague, who took the witness stand and declared that he had been fully reimbursed.
He also stated that he forgave the girl and did not wish for further action to be taken against her.
Since the girl is a minor, the court ordered that a pre-sentencing report be carried out before a final judgment is handed down by the juvenile court.
In the meantime, the girl has been granted bail against a €500 deposit and a personal guarantee of €4,500.
She is also required to sign the bail book daily.
Lawyer Martina Muscat from the Office of the Attorney General and Police Inspector Bradley Grima prosecuted the case.
Lawyer Victor Bugeja represented the girl.
