Global women changemakers celebrated at Malta summit

SIGEF Women Awards honoured female leaders for driving inclusion, innovation and empowerment

A number of female global changemakers have been recognised for their impact on women’s advancement and inclusion at an awards ceremony held Tuesday during the Social Innovation and Global Ethics Forum.

The women receiving the SIGEF Women Awards included Christiane Caruana who was honoured for her leadership in diplomacy and women’s advocacy.

Shakira Fenech was recognised for her work with survivors of domestic violence and youth empowerment at St Jeanne Antide Foundation.

International leaders Mayara Marinov, Elizabeth de Moraes, Salwa Arfaoui, and Kimia Penton were acknowledged for exceptional contributions to women-led innovation and empowerment.

The SIGEF summit, which was hosted in Malta and supported by VisitMalta, brought together a number of global leaders, experts, entrepreneurs, and innovators in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Featuring a line-up of over 50 high-profile speakers and global thought leaders across different industries, the summit focused international attention on Malta as a global platform for advancing women’s leadership, innovation, and gender equality.

Tourism Minister Ian Borg opened the summit together with Enviroment Minister Miriam Dalli.

This year’s summit hosted representatives from diplomatic missions including the US, China, and India, alongside global influencers, entrepreneurs, and media strategists.
