Golden Harvest awarded "Excellent" rating certificate

Golden Harvest was awarded an "Excellent" rating certificate by the American Institute of Baking (AIB).

The rating was achieved following an inspection of the facility by AIB's food safety auditor, Norman Mack, who was flown to Malta by Golden Harvest specifically to conduct an inspection of the company's premises and operation processes.

Alfred Portelli, systems quality manager at Golden Harvest, said Golden Harvest was the only bakery in Malta to be awarded such a prestigious certification.

The rating was awarded following a number of improvements since the previous inspection, including the upgrading of the processing areas and storage conditions, the introduction and follow up of documented cleaning schedules for each department, regular audit of safety procedures, an update of the microbiological testing system in the factory's laboratory and the implementation of an updated, proper and fully documented pest control system.

The company also enhanced its training programme for employees and ensured proper washing and sanitising stations in all production areas, as well as a good housekeeping programme throughout operation hours.
