Ian Woosnam is widely ex-pected to be named as the European Ryder Cup captain for the 2006 match against the US tomorrow. Fellow Briton Nick Faldo, a six-times major winner and veteran of 11 Ryder Cups as a player, is also in the running for the honour but is more likely to be appointed to lead Europe's challenge in 2008.
