Good luck to property speculators

Kenneth Zammit Tabona has again been harping about his solution to cut down the national financial deficit. For some unknown reason and calculations he is suggesting that the government tax empty properties which are held for speculative purposes.

I am not a speculative property owner but I cannot agree with him. On what grounds and by what figment of imagination can such a measure be justified? If individuals want, and are comfortable enough, to hold on to their property for speculative purposes, then good luck to them. He should try and emulate them.

Perhaps Mr Zammit Tabona wants to go back to the dark ages of national controls, of which, I am sure, he has quite a few experiences. His advice to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister should have been based on VAT and income tax evaders. That is where some control should be applied.
