Athletes from Zurrieq Wolves Athletics Club achieved a number of good results in last Sunday's BMW Malta Marathon and Half Marathon including the 19th consecutive showing for Carmel Herd in the longer distance since the race was launched in 1986.

In the half marathon, Doreen Vella, Marisa Muscat and Rachel Galea won the ladies' team award.

Their male counterparts also did well, Joe Abdilla, Simon Lia and Ray Mifsud finishing second in their category.

On an individual level, Vella was third overall and second Maltese lady, while Abdilla was fourth overall in the men's race.

In the full marathon, John Bezzina, Anthony Borg and Carmel D'Amato were third in the men's team competition.

In age categories Marisa Muscat was first over 35 and Ray Mifsud first over 45. Pawlu Camilleri was second in the over 40 category.
