The government and the Attorney General have appealed against the compensation awarded to Dom Mintoff over the construction of the Delimara power station close to his property.

They argued that the amount of Lm360,000 was excessive and that his land should have been expropriated.

The former Prime Minister has also appealed the decision of the First Hall of the Civil Court, which awarded the compensation for the de facto expropriation of his home at Delimara.

In their 1994 application, Mintoff and his late wife had claimed that their fundamental human right to enjoyment of their own property, consisting of their home known as L-Gharix in Delimara, had been violated as a result of the construction of the power station just a road's width away from their property.
