Jonathan Young, a 12-year-old boy from Xagħra, Gozo was awarded an international certificate of merit and a cheque for $500 after he was named a merit award winner in the 22nd annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.

Young is one of 24 merit award winners chosen from over 350,000 entries drawn by children aged 11 to 13 from 65 countries.

The other Maltese finalists were Zoe Gatt, Emma Gatt and Alannah Xuereb of St Michael's Foundation and Lorna Spiteri and Faustine Schembri of Agius de Soldanis College, Gozo.
