A fault in the electronic ticketing system caused a 45-minute stoppage to ferry services between Malta and Gozo yesterday evening, delaying travellers heading North for the carnival celebrations.
Gozo Channel said that the shuttle service using three ferries that had been put into operation as normal during such periods was disrupted for some time due to the fault, but returned to normal later in the evening.
The company expressed its regret at the inconvenience caused, which, it said, was minimised as much as possible by the efforts of the company’s employees, who did everything they could to bring the operation back to normal quickly.
Thousands of people crossed over to Gozo yesterday, with the tailback of cars stretching from Cirkewwa to Ghadira Bay.
