Gozo CPD raises funds for MCCF
Residents and families gather in Victoria, with plans for a motorbike ride on Dec 21
For several years, the Civil Protection Department had been organising an annual fundraiser in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund, an initiative that has become a cherished tradition within the community.
The event took place along Triq Fortunato Mizzi and Triq Carlu Galea in Victoria, where residents and families gathered with a shared sense of purpose and solidarity, united in their commitment to support those facing difficult circumstances.
Among the most beloved attractions was a large fire-engine-themed bouncy castle, which filled the streets with children’s laughter and brought joy to families attending the event.
This attraction was made possible through the generous collaboration of Lelio Spiteri, who graciously made available the grounds of the school under his care, ensuring that the activity could once again take place in a welcoming and safe environment.
The funds collected during the initiative will be added to the contributions gathered by the Civil Protection Department across Malta. Together, these donations will form a single substantial sum to be presented on December 26 during L-Istrina – a moment that symbolises the nation’s compassion and collective effort to support those most in need.
A fire engine was also exhibited on site, drawing the interest of many visitors, including children who were delighted to take photographs with the firefighters, while the crew offered demonstrations of the specialised equipment carried on board.
These interactions provided the public with a meaningful glimpse into the dedication, skill and daily realities of the department’s frontline personnel.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, December 21, at 9am, a motorcycle ride will depart from Dwejra, limits of San Lawrenz, and proceed to the Civil Protection Station in Xewkija. Participants will be invited to offer their donation upon arrival, further strengthening this collective gesture of goodwill.
