Gozo FC will play Division One football next season after they beat Gzira United 3-2 on penalties in a promotion decider at the Centenary Stadium yesterday.

After the 90 minutes the score was tied at 1-1 with both goals coming from the penalty spot, Matthew Cocks (22) putting Gzira ahead and Matthew Portelli (55) equalising for Gozo.

In extra-time, Cedric Sciberras (113) put Gzira 2-1 up but a late goal from Charlie Mercieca took the match to penalties. Gozo 'keeper Jonathan Xuereb took centre stage saving three penalties and scoring one to seal his team's promotion.
