A total of 1,525,143 passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo between July and September, up by 1.7 per cent when compared to the corresponding quarter in 2014.

The NSO said the highest number of passengers was recorded in August - 538,016, or 35.3 per cent of the total for the quarter. The number of vehicles increased by 5.1 per cent, totalling 418,190.

The number of trips amounted to 5,822, an increase of 3.0 per cent over the same period in 2014. The majority of trips took place in August - 2,006 or 34.5 per cent of total trips for the quarter.

January-September

During this period, traffic originating from Ċirkewwa was busiest on Friday and Saturday. On the other hand, from Mġarr the highest demand was recorded on Sundays and Mondays.
