The Gozo Amateur Athletic Association last Sunday held its 29th Gozo Half-Marathon, in collaboration with Xaghra council.

The 13.1 mile race passed through the South of Gozo, including Marsalforn, Victoria, Sannat, Ghajnsielem, Qala and Nadur. The race ended on Victory Square, Xaghra, where prizes were presented to the winners. An eight-mile race for adults and two and four kilometre races for children were also held.

Taking part in half-marathon was 61-year-old Canon Anthony Refalo, of the Xaghra Youth Centre, the father of the event.

The Gozo half marathon, which was won by Andrew Grech of Mellieha Athletic Club with a time of 1.17.51, was sponsored by San Michel Mineral Water, the Gozo Ministry and Xewkija council.
