Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono said yesterday that the fares for the new Gozo helicopter service would be Lm30 one way and Lm50 return for regular passengers; Lm16 one way and Lm26 return for all residents of Malta and Gozo, whatever their nationality; and also Lm16 one way and Lm26 return for elderly people not resident in Malta, and students, whatever their nationality.

Special prices would be offered to frequent fliers and those tour operators that promoted the service to their clients.

The flights would be operated using a Bell 412 helicopter, one of the best helicopters of its kind, the minister said.

There would be 20 trips per day between March and the end of October and eight daily for the rest of the year, as well as one night flight daily, all year round. The helicopter would be based in Gozo.

The details were given in reply to a parliamentary question by Anton Refalo, opposition spokesman for Gozo.
