A California high school student has been accused of baking her grandfather's cremated remains into a batch of cookies and handing them out to classmates who ate them.
Police say at least nine students ate them. One student, who did not want to be identified, says some were aware of what was in the cookies, others were not.
"This girl is going around telling everyone, basically at this point, that she had brought in these cookies to school with human ashes in them."
Police say the student and a friend who helped her will not face criminal charges.
Instead school officials will decide how the matter will be handled.
"I have not heard of anyone getting sick, or anybody being harmed as far as physically...physiologically by this."
The alleged incident happened earlier this month.
