It is such a pity the Magistrates Court was unable to treat the prosecution of Bert Childers with the contempt it deserved. However, the amount of the fine, €100, demonstrated where the court's sympathies lay.

That this caring man should be unable to obtain a permit to work, once a year, unpaid, to help the feral cats of Gozo is scandalous.

It is not as if he would be taking money out of anyone else's pocket.

Come on Malta, show your humanity, and grant this man a permit, if only for a limited period each year.
