I have just seen the six-episode documentary about the Great Siege of 1565, which was produced locally by PBS. For various reasons, I had failed to follow it on T V.

This is a great piece of work. Very professionally scripted, presented and produced, the epic story evolves seamlessly, punctuated by comments and explanations offered by a  good number of local and foreign historians.

It is not a run-of-the-mill account but answers queries and clarifies scenarios (local and international) which have been asked and sought by many to reach a better and more balanced understanding of this momentous event.

Fully conscious of this late intervention by the undersigned, I nonetheless preferred to put pen to paper late rather than remain in silence and fail to congratulate all concerned for a job very well done.
