Reigning champions Greece will be top seeds in the draw for the 2008 European Championship despite failing to qualify for next year's World Cup. Greece will be joined by the Netherlands, Portugal, England, Czech Republic, France and Sweden in Pot 1 for the draw which takes place in Montreux, Switzerland on January 27.

The tournament is being jointly hosted by Switzerland and Austria, who both qualify automatically.

The top eight seeds will be anxious to avoid Italy, Spain and Germany who all find themselves in Pot 2, along with Croatia, Turkey, Poland and Romania.

Ukraine, who qualified impressively for their first World Cup finals, will be dangerous floaters in Pot 3, as will Serbia and Montenegro, who will also be in Germany next year.

The draw will produce one group of eight and six groups of seven teams, with the winners and runners-up qualifying for the 16-team finals.
