Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika`s spokesman on European Union affairs and secretary general of the European Federation of Green Parties, met with Green US presidential candidate Ralph Nader to discuss preparations for action by the Global Greens in Johannesburg in August and September.

Mr Nader, US consumer protection advocate, insisted the Greens in European governments should bring up the issue of alternative energy in their discussions with the Bush administration.

The European Union has set itself the objective of producing 25 per cent of its energy through renewable sources by the year 2025, Dr Cassola said.
