Satisfaction at the recent considerable hauls of contraband diesel has been expressed by the Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises, GRTU, who has been complaining that the drop in sales was much lower than that in industry production.

The GRTU called for the setting up of a separate force, such as the Guardia di Finanza, to coordinate with all the relevant authorities and the people to fight illicit trade and contraband.

The GRTU appealed to businessmen to cooperate and report abuses which created unfair competition. It said it carried out a regular exercise with petrol stations to ensure they fully collaborated to stop abuse.

The GRTU insisted that all abuses, including the trading of fake goods, the sale of goods entering the country in breach of customs legislation and income tax evasion should be dealt with.

The authorities had to be congratulated when they caught abusers but enforcement had to be continuous and receive everyone’s support.

Cases of illicit trading should be reported to the GRTU on 2123 2881, e-mail admin@grtu.eu .
