The Association of General Retailers and Traders yesterday called the Freeport authorities to take action after delays were reported at the port gate by haulers.
Lack of investment in equipment was resulting in problems which meant that haulers had to wait for several hours before they could enter or leave the Freeport, the GRTU said.
The GRTU criticised the "inefficient management" at the Freeport gate which had led to several trucks waiting for hours on end.
Port workers' complaints that there was not enough machinery to assist them in their work was falling on deaf ears, the GRTU held.
