GRTU president Paul Abela said today that the association had always sought to get its message across on the negotiating table and felt no need for street protests.
His comment, quoted by the Department of Information, was made when he greeted Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi to the GRTU offices. Dr Azzopardi was last week made responsible for the self employed and SMEs.
Mr Abela said the GRTU was confident that the prime minister and the government would hear its representations.
Dr Azzopardi said the government always viewed SMEs and the self-employed as the backbone of the economy, and this was proved by the measures announced in the last Budget.
He said he was ready to work with the GRTU and hear the views of the sector so that the SMEs and the country could achieve their aims.
