The government should not burden the commercial sector with taxes at a time when only minimal economic growth was being registered, the GRTU, Association of General Retailers and Traders said yesterday.

The GRTU referred to the recent Central Bank review which projected slow growth for 2003 and said this was in line with the association's forecasts that this would not be sufficient to sustain the number of businesses and the high level of employment in the commercial sector.
