A 20-year old Italian man was ordered to pay Lm1,000 and given a three-month prison term suspended for four years after being found guilty of stealing a car in Gozo.

William Zappa was also found guilty of causing damage to both the stolen car and another car as well as driving in a dangerous manner without being covered by an insurance policy.

The court presided by Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera also ordered that the accused be disqualified from holding a driving licence for a year.

The prosecution was led by Inspector Antonello Grech.
