An Msida man was yesterday given a two-month jail term suspended for four years and fined Lm200 for his part in two hold-ups and the theft of four cars.

Jonathan Mizzi, 20, pleaded guilty to complicity in the theft of:-

¤more than Lm100 from Pace's Guest House in Sliema on December 16, 2001 to the detriment of Dhaodhi Lofti,

¤more than Lm50 from GrandPa's Millennium Kebab House in Sliema on December 16, 2001 to the detriment of Cemil Yildiz,

¤a Ford Escort worth more than Lm1,000 in Sliema on December 15, 2001, to the detriment of Alpine Rent-a-Car Company Limited,

¤Claudio Meldoni's Alfa Romeo from Msida on November 28, 2001,

¤Paul Zerafa's Ford Escort from Paola on November 28, 2001, and

¤Alexander Stellini's Alfa Romeo from Swieqi between December 21 and 24, 2001.

Mizzi also pleaded guilty to holding Lofti against his will at the guest house and Yildiz, Janelle Spiteri Cremona and James Rizzo against their will at the kebab house.

He was also charged with carrying a firearm at the time of the commission of a crime.

In handing down judgment, Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona took Mizzi's clean criminal record and his young age into consideration and ordered that the suspended jail term run concurrently with an order of supervision.

Police Inspectors Silvio Valletta and Stephen Mallia prosecuted.

Dr Franco Debono appeared for Mizzi.
