A Libyan man was yesterday given an 18-month jail term suspended for four years for assaulting and slightly injuring a man and a woman in St Julian's.

Essam Hadi Elmiladni, 25, pleaded guilty to assaulting and injuring Albuilieisir Masoud on September 2 and assaulting, robbing and injuring Sharon Alwan and holding her against her will on September 4.

He also admitted to giving false information to the police on September 25.

Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
