The General Workers' Union has criticised the way the new news manager at PBS was appointed.

The union said Natalino Fenech's appointment caused great disgruntle-ment among PBS employees.

The post, it said, was given to an outsider while persons already employed at PBS were ignored.

In a letter to PBS chairman Joe Fenech Conti, the GWU said it is common practice, even with regard to managerial grades, to follow transparent procedures to employ a manager, more so when the post in question is a sensitive one.
