A proposal by the General Workers' Union's Youths Section for the empowerment of small states in the ETUC structure was unanimously approved at the first meeting of the youth committee of the European Trades Union Confederation in Brussels.
The proposal of the Maltese delegation emphasised that it was crucial for small states like Malta, Cyprus, Iceland, Monaco and Luxembourg to work more within the ETUC structures.
GWU Youths proposed that a committee should be formed between all these small states, and all difficulties should be brought to the attention of the ETUC's Youth Bureau.
GWU Youths also proposed that this committee should be chaired by the president of the Youth Bureau.
GWU Youths were represented by the secretary, Cory Greenland, and international secretary Jean Pierre Attard.
