The Prime Minister and the Nationalist Party seem scandalised by the General Workers' Union's intended march this week.

Without entering into the merits of the march itself, an activity that along with mass meetings should have gone out of fashion with the ghonella, there is no reason why in a free and pluralistic society people should not be able to show their opinion in public no matter when or where.

Thankfully we do not live in a monolithic society where governments are elected by 96.5 per cent of the vote like in some of the Commonwealth countries on whose tin-pot dictators our government is graciously spending taxpayers' money!
