The GWU said yesterday it would convene its national council to discuss the situation after its meeting with the Prime Minister over the budget measures on Friday.

The union is claiming that Dr Gonzi had not even wanted to hear what it wanted to say about the burdens which the people could not shoulder.

The council will meet on Thursday afternoon to set a strategy for the union if the government does not shift its position.
