The General Workers' Union has ordered duty management officers at the Civil Aviation Division not to use the telephone or fax machines for office-related purposes.
The union said in a statement it was registering an industrial dispute with the Management and Personnel Office following a deadlock in negotiations on the grade of duty management officers at the division.
The union said that back in 1996, the MPO had promised this group of workers that a revision on their assimilation, progression and recruitment would be carried out in the second part of the reform through a corrective exercise. But the MPO was still ignoring this promise.
The union warned it was reserving the right to take further action as required in the circumstances if progress in talks were not registered.
