Gzira Council has welcomed a decision by the Planning Authority for access to Manoel Island not to be gated by the Midi developers.

In a statement, the council observed that Midi had been planning to close off its development on Manoel Island, thus also hindering access to the shore.

Mayor Conrad Borg Manché said that had the Midi plan been upheld, the current situation would have deteriorated as it would have been more difficult for people to enjoy the Manoel Island shore.

Thankfully, however, the efforts of the council and civil society to keep access open had succeeded.
