Hamrun, Pembroke clash for top spot and bonus win

After the interlude for the Louis Borg Cup final, the Kinnie League returns in full swing this weekend. The attention will be predominantly centred on the top-of-the-table clash between Hamrun Go Mobile and Pembroke tomorrow afternoon.

Footwork and Depiro Kyocera meet in tomorrow's opening game but the three-match programme at Ta' Qali sets off today when Siggiewi Smina take on Bupa Luxol at 4.15 p.m.

Joint-leaders Hamrun and Pembroke will be gunning to secure top spot and start the play-offs with a bonus win.

Their morale bolstered by the Louis Borg Cup success at the expense of Luxol, Pembroke will be hoping that top scorer Michael Naudi will be fully fit to start this match and lead the team to a crucial win.

Naudi only took part in the last two sessions of the second leg of the Louis Borg Cup final on Sunday against Luxol who were punished by the MBA for fielding few junior players for the first leg last Saturday.

Hamrun's game in attack has improved but they need to maintain a high level of consistency to stand a chance of beating Pembroke for the second time this season.

Luxol will be looking to make sure of a berth in the play-offs with a victory against bottom-placed Siggiewi. A positive result today will certainly help Luxol regain confidence after the Louis Borg Cup upset.

For Depiro, a win is a must against Footwork if they are to stay in contention for the last available place in the finals.

At present, Footwork enjoy a one-point lead over their imminent opponents. They also hold the upperhand in direct clashes this season.
