Ħamrun police station reopening after two-year revamp

€660,000 project included replacement of roofs and installation of new equipment

Ħamrun police station will reopen on Thursday after an extensive two-year revamp.

The Home Affairs Ministry said the €660,000 project included the replacement of roofs, removal of some walls, new doors and windows, utilities, air conditioning and equipment. 

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri visited the site and said the police never had such a strong presence in the community. He said the government was committed to continuing to invest in the Force. 

Renovation works were also recently completed in the police stations of Gżira and Rabat. A new station was opened in Marsascala as well as a Gender and Domestic Violence Unit in Santa Luċija. Mtarfa police station was converted into the second Domestic Violence Hub.
