Thursday, May 30, was a special day for the pupils of Years 6 and 7 who attend Dun Frans Camilleri Primary School in Hamrun.

Some 80 pupils and their teachers worked incessantly during the last couple of weeks in May to put up a variety show for their schoolmates and their parents, thus unwinding from the stress of exams and also to have their share of enjoyment through singing, dancing and acting.

The programme included a play about Wenzu u Rozi, a boys' choir which sang Negro spirituals, and ballroom dancing. The show ended with an "Italian Fantasy" where a group of boys and girls danced the tarantella and can-can to Neapolitan songs including O sole mio, Oi Marì, Funiculì, funiculà and others. The parents were also invited to attend the final report of a talk show as well as the final of a quiz, both of which had started the week before.

During the week the school's football team took part in games against outside teams and also groups of schoolmates.

These activities were welcomed with great enthusiasm by the students under the direction and supervision of their teachers Mr Louis Briffa, Ms Marlene Buttigieg, Ms Rita Debono, Ms Simone Gatt and Ms Ingrid Tabone, all of whom worked very hard to make the event both a successful and memorable one.
