The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices went down to 117.57 last month from 118.23 in November.

The National Statistics Office said that in December, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices went down by 0.6 per cent over the previous month.

This primarily reflected a decrease of 7.7 per cent in the Communications Index, mostly due to lower fees for Internet services.

In December, the 12-month moving average rate of inflation stood at 3.2 per cent and the annual rate stood at 2.8 per cent.
