Health authorities lift swimming ban at Balluta Bay

The popular bay was closed after construction waste blocked sewers

Health authorities have lifted a warning against bathing in Balluta Bay in St Julian's on Tuesday morning.

Last week, authorities warned against entering the water of the popular bathing spot after construction waste was found blocking the sewer line, leading to sewage flowing into the bathing area.

On Tuesday, the Environmental Health Directorate said "repeated" sampling of seawater tests had indicated that the site was once again "fit for bathing and thus the health warning is hereby being lifted."

The public can gain more information by contacting the Environmental Health Directorate between 8am - 2.30pm on 20954992 or by email at wrau.ehd@gov.mt.
